Mary Cannon is a life-long resident of Buena Vista, Virginia where she attended Parry McCluer High School. After graduation, she also attended Dabney S. Lancaster Community College on a 2-year full academic scholarship where she acquired an Associate of Arts and Science Degree. Mary has had various jobs in industry and retail throughout the years. She also spent 11 years in banking before becoming employed at VMI.

Mary became the Chaplain’s Office Administrative Assistant in July 2015. During her years at VMI, she has had opportunities to take part in Bible Studies geared towards female cadets. After becoming the Office Administrator, she helped to organize the Weekly Women’s Fellowship Meeting that is very popular among female cadets. This weekly meeting has given her the opportunity to mentor several female cadets. Mary met her husband Wes Cannon while they were both attending Chapel services at VMI, and they were married in August 2015.
